Miami University

Recognized as the #1 public university in the nation for its commitment to undergraduate education (and #2 overall after Princeton), Miami is one of the nation's eight original Public Ivy universities, and is also the 7th oldest in the nation, founded in 1809. It was frequently then called the "Yale of the West."

With more than 17 miles of trails and 1,000 acres of preserve and natural areas, plus an art museum, historic Western campus, the Freedom Summer Memorial, the Cradle of Coaches, quads and gardens, its offers much to explore for visitors to Oxford. See for yourself why Robert Frost called it "The most beautiful campus that ever there was."

History of the University

In 1795, President George Washington signed an ordinance that helped Miami University get its start. Today, it consistently ranks as one of the finest public universities in the nation and hosts an acclaimed liberal arts program.

Notable past attendees of Miami University include Benjamin Harrison (23rd President of the United States), Paul Ryan (54th Speaker of the House of Representatives) and Ben Roethlisberger (QB for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
A beautiful college. It’s one of the prettiest campuses I’ve visited. They have a common brick colonial design to the buildings, large quads and green spaces and many mature majestic trees. Large enough that it’s interesting and small enough to feel intimate. The Farmer School of Business department building feels like an upscale conference center.

It’s the picture perfect school. Very pretty well maintained. New facilities. Saw the football and hockey areas. Plus one of the frats. Very pretty. Can see what attracts the kids

We visited in the winter for a college weekend trip with our kids and liked it, but when we came back over the summer in June we were blown away. This college is gorgeous. Not a blade of grass out of place, flowers everywhere, perfect sidewalks and extremely nice and helpful people. The campus is maintained meticulously both inside the buildings and out.
